Exploring the Sweet Life | Vermont Open Farm Week 2023

Vermont is known for its speciality produce and sweet offerings all year round. From U-pick berries, maple syrup, and the apple frenzy that happens every fall, there are so many ways in which Vermont food products make life oh so sweet. Have fun with friends, as you pick blueberries, enter a maple pie contest, learn about honey, go apple tasting, and so much more. We say do it all for a very sweet  Open Farm Week.

Sunday, August 6th

 

U-Pick Blueberries at Smokey House Center

Pick for a Cause at Adam’s Berry Farm
Charlotte
8am-4pm

Join us for a day of picking blueberries. For every pound picked we will donate a portion to the Vermont Land Trust so they can continue their work protecting farmland in Vermont.

Sugar Maple Tour at Trapp Family Lodge
Stowe
1:00-2:30pm

Join us at the Trapp Family Lodge Sugarhouse as we renew the centuries-old tradition of making pure Vermont maple syrup. Our Maple Sugar Tour is a casual, 1-mile hike around the property where you learn about our process and enjoy a tasty maple treat. Please bring proper footwear and weather-permitting clothing. Adults - $20 Children $5(6-12) Under 5 Free. Please call the Outdoor Center at 802-253-5719 for reservations.

The 2nd Annual Great North American Maple Pie Contest at Baird Farm
North Chittenden
2:00pm

Sit back and picnic while you watch the 2nd Annual Great North American Maple Pie Contest go down! Activities will include: pie contest with local celebrity judges, pie throwing, and of course eating pie and ice cream! The winner of the pie contest will receive a year's supply of maple syrup and other pie themed prizes! Lawn games, pie themed music, and fun for the whole family!

Please bring cash to participate in the pielicious activities! A portion of proceeds will go towards the Vermont Farmer's Food Center.

Make Your Own Sundae at Silloway Maple

Come make your own Sundae, at Silloway Maple. Our famous Maple Creamee, with a tableful of topping choices - from Homemade Hot Fudge to Habanero Infused Maple Syrup, Whipped Cream and crushed Maple Candy, Maple Caramel Sauce and more! Tours available, as well as shopping in our sugarhouse store. $6.50, children's size available.

We also do maple sugaring…ever wonder what the difference is between the various grades? Come and taste the difference!
